Master The Basics

I wish I had loved every form of my body that came before this one, but regardless of the path I took, I’m grateful my journey eventually brought me here 🧚🏼‍♂️

From string bean, to athletic to thiccc to a beautiful balance of them all, I’m thankful for the vessel that has carried me through it.

I’ve fallen more in love with my body every year I spend in it. Perhaps that’s why I love this version best. Beyond the progress I’ve made in body confidence and self acceptance, this version came about from habits and routine that I’ve built with consistency not extremes, which is a huge win.

Living in my own home these last 13 months (before that I was living out of a backpack, housesitting and traveling) has allowed me to create a lifestyle in which I’ve thrived.

Putting down roots gave me structure to improve my sleep, increase my daily activity, time to cook for myself again and energy to focus on bigger performance goals.

The strong, athletic, body that followed has felt more sustainable and effortless than any other form my body has taken up to this point.

If the your methods are not sustainable the results won’t be either. Rather than focus on extremes that leave you yo-yoing, learn to master the basics 👇🏼

  1. Move your body well and often

  2. Consume lots of colorful fruits and veggies, eat enough protein, fat & fiber while also allowing room for foods that fed your soul (if every week you’re getting “back on track” you we’re on the wrong track to begin with)

  3. Stay hydrated.

  4. Sleep hygiene matters. Create a routine that allows you a minimum 7 hours a night.

  5. Manage your stress. Meditate. Go outside. Pet a dog. Watch a movie that makes you laugh, do what works for you.

Bonus tip:

Got aesthetic or performance goals?

Get yourself on a CONSISTENT program. Lift weights, practice yoga, bike, etc. if you wanna be harder, better, faster, stronger....get on a program than aligns with the desired outcome and STICK with it. Not sure where to start? Hire a coach!

Wherever you’re at on your journey, remember to take care of yourself the way you take care of the person you love most in the world. Be on your own team!
